STAMPOTIQUE DESIGNERS' COLOR CHALLENGE: SDC 98

My favorite day of the week again!  The Stampotique Designers' Challenge is up and is all about color!  Polly is our DT Host this week, and she has chosen a great challenge.  Here's what she has to say to motivate us:
I love Pink, whether it's a bright fushcia pink or a pretty rose pink - and teamed up with Turquoise well, they sure do make a bold statement!! This colour combination creates a bright, cheerful and a beautiful feminine palette that also reminds me of the 1980's and what a fab decade that was for music!! So break out the pinks, turquoises and not forgetting a splash of black and white and join in with this weeks challenge.
I love to use my Dylusions ink sprays, so I reached for Bubblegum Pink and Vibrant Turquoise and started randomly spraying in my 6x9" watercolor journal--this time without Gesso as I wanted my inks to soak into the paper.  Next, I created some "drippage" by letting my Liquitex titanium white ink run down the paper to create horizontal lines.  I used rub-ons for my sentiment and a bit of "see through" washi tape to anchor my Stampotique Originals stamp called Mary.  My background was too dark to stamp directly onto my page, so I stamped my image onto a textured white cardstock using Teal Blue ink by StazOn.  A date stamp, and done!

If you have always wanted to try something "artsy," this is a great place to jump in.  Anything goes, even an art form as simple as crayons.  The only requirement is to use a stamp...any stamp!  The Design Team Members are great for encouraging us to use what we already have and just to have fun...so come have some!

Here's my "answer" to this week's challenge:

I am glad that you came by today.  I would be pleased if you take a moment to leave a comment so that I will know you were here!

Joy to you!

  1. Kay, I've said this before but will say it again ... your way with colour is amazing!

I adore this page for its bold colourful presentation and the, perhaps, subtle symbolism of the jumble of numbers beneath your almost invisible girl. Creates such a statement with those words - rather like its a jumping off start for her to begin to live, explore and find a colourful life around her. <3 !!

  16. What a gorgeous background you've created here, Kay! Love the technique -esp the way the white Liquitex drippage (love it! Did you make that word up?)created those cool horizontal lines. The addition of the Washi to "ground" your girl was brilliant! Great job!
