APRIL DARE FROM TRACY WEINZAPFEL STUDIOS

Two posts today--that is a first for me!  Today was dedicated to artful pursuits, and I did not disappoint (even myself)!  Each month, mixed media artist Tracy Weinzapfel challenges her blog followers with an artful "dare."  Tracy has made us stop and think about those things for which we might like to be remembered.  Rather than, perhaps, accomplish- ments, I have chosen characteristics.  I have humbly chosen the words creative, thoughtful, strong, sensitive, and grounded.  While these are self-assigned, my family (at least) would pretty much agree, I am sure!

I am trying to use my newly-purchased Gelli Plate in creating backgrounds, so that is what you see today.  I have also used two handmade stencils--ala my Cricut, the diamond and leaf patterns.

One of the things with which I have the most difficulty in my art is my own handwriting.  I challenged myself today to include that in this dare.  In doing so, I, the Queen of Grammar (and all associated things--like spelling) have created the greatest of sins--a misspelled word.  I debated about attempting to correct it, but decided to leave well enough alone.  You see, another characteristic is forgiving!

Here, for the second time today, is my work of (he)art!

Thanks for visiting!  I appreciate your comments!

Joy to you!

  2. Lovely job Kay, I think deep down we all are not satisfied with our handwriting...after all, we are own worst critics...I have been playing with my Gelli plate for 3 days now...once you start, it's hard to stop.

  3. You're very courageous to write by yourself if you don't like your handwriting... (The same for me of course, h'm). Nice background with your own stencils, well done! But where is the wrong word ??? I can't find it ! Big hugs, have a lovely week-end with sun I hope. Coco xx

  7. Kay, I have been looking at that gelli plate and love what it can do... I see a purchase in my future. I would say that those are perfect words to describe you and to be able to add forgiving too :) I love it. The colours are so bright and cheerful... which is another word I would have used to describe you...

  9. Wow, Kay...I'm impressed that you made your own stencils with your Cricut! I think your handwriting is quite lovely & I'm proud of you for leaving "well enough alone"...I have ruined many of layouts attempting to "fix" a mistake! LOL! Lovely design!

  10. I sooooo need to start making my own stencils! Love this page and especially that you forgave yourself the misspelling. I recently did a spread without realizing the entire book was upside down.

  11. This is lovely, Kay! I love making my own stencils, and yours looks great. I totally understand your feelings about grammar. I can't even hear the Star Trek motto without rearranging it in my mind to make it grammatically correct. :)
