TAG ALONG BLOG #74: THINK PINK

This week's Tag Along Blog Challenge is hosted by Donna, who encourages us to THINK PINK!

I used a smaller tag this week, and began by spraying Dylusions "Bubble Gum Pink" ink onto my craft mat and dipping my tag into it.  In the background, I used a rather new stamp from Daniel Torrente called "Circles Cube,"  which I dipped in white paint and stamped onto my tag.  I also created a few splats with the white paint while I had it out.

Next, I allowed one of my Stampotique Originals' stamps, "Glimmering Hope," to command center stage on my tag.  Well, except for that naughty sentiment! But, let's back up a moment.

When Donna asked me to "think pink," I immediately thought of girly, lacy, pure, demure, delicate...all things "not me."  I would pretty much characterize myself as the opposite.  Fiery, bold and with a bit of an attitude at times.  That led me to check out my text stamps where I came across this one, also from Stampotique.  A feminine pearl took the usual place of a ribbon!

I will also submit this tag to the Stampotique Designers' Challenge #179 (Punny and/or Funny).

Thanks for stopping by today and for leaving a comment so that I will know you were here! Take some time this week to create something.

STAMPOTIQUE DESIGNERS' CHALLENGE #180: USE PAINT IN YOUR BACKGROUND

I simply could not miss my friend Corrie Herriman's hosting of the Stampotique Designers' Challenge this week.  Corrie rarely creates without paint somewhere in her art, so it was no surprise when I read her challenge:
Happy Wednesday everybody.  My first love in crafting is paint.  So, today I would like you all to use paint in your background.  Doesn't matter what paint or how you apply it, just have fun!
I have been slow to join the trend to use DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics, but I did buy two the last time I was in my local art store--Cadmium Orange Hue and Green Gold.  I used them both here, applying with a brayer.  I do have to say that I love these paints, not just the color but the fluidity of them.

This challenge also allowed me the opportunity to use another of my new Stampotique Originals' stamps, "Olive Rose."  Using Black Archival Ink, I stamped my image onto white card stock.  I next cut an 2-1/4" oval on my Cricut using some scrap paper.  I removed the "cut," then placed my image behind the empty oval and cut again.  Next, I cut a 2-1/2" oval on black card stock and used it for matting.

For my sentiment, I used Tim Holtz' Idea-ology "ChitChat" stickers.

I hope you will take some time this week to get creative.  If you use paint, be sure to link it to the Stampotique Designers' Challenge for a chance to win one of two $30 gift certificates.

Thanks for stopping by--I appreciate both your visits and your comments!

TAG ALONG BLOG CHALLENGE #73: SPOTS AND DOTS

A fun challenge this week from the Tag Along Blog Challenge.

For my tag today, I began with two colors of Golden liquid acrylics called Naples Yellow Hue and Teal.  I lightly brayered on one color, dried it, then brayered on the second.  I continued this pattern until I was happy with the base of my tag.

Next, I used one of Tim Holtz's stencils (Splatters) specifically sized for tags and used a blending tool to push through some black archival ink.  Once dry, I added a piece of washi tape across the bottom to ground my image.

I used two of my new Stampotique Originals' stamps, "Little Friends," and the "Sunbeam" text stamp.  Both were stamped directly onto white card stock and dried.  I fussy cut the image and used pop dots to adhere it to add a bit of dimension to the tag.  The text stamp was cut on my rotary trimmer, mounted on a scrap of black card stock, then adhered to my tag.

I used a white ribbon dyed with black Dylusions ink spray, tied it onto my tag and affixed it with a mini staple.

Thanks for visiting today.  I hope you will find time to play with a tag this week, creating your own spots and dots!

TAG ALONG BLOG CHALLENGE #72: POSTCARDS/LETTERS

This week's Tag Along Blog Challenge is all about postcards and letters.  I love making postcards and sending to friends, and I love making tags, so this was a total pleasure for me!

I used a scrap of scrapbooking paper left over from another project, and played with a bit of Dylusions "Melted Chocolate" ink spray.  I added a coffee stain (okay, more than one) using France Papillon's "Splattered Mug" from Stampotique Originals, and distressed the edges a bit.

Thanks for continuing to visit my blog as I begin to explore more avenues for artful projects!

THE BUTTERFLY COUNTS NOT

Each month, Craft Stamper Magazine holds a TAKE IT, MAKE IT contest (which one may enter three times) specifying a theme.  For January, the challenge is a simple one--just use stamping!  This is my third entry into this month's contest.

I have created a tag cut from chipboard (from the back of a water color paper pad).  I used Collage Pauge to adhere paper towels that had been used for mopping up after another project.  I stamped the butterfly image (from Stampotique Originals) onto heavy white card stock and colored it using LePlume II markers in violet, blue and ultramarine, then blended the inks with a water brush.  I cut out the butterfly, then clear embossed it and adhered it to my tag.  The antennae were hand drawn.  Along the two sides and bottom, I used another of the Stampotique stamps, Streamers, to form a partial border.  The quote was computer generated and printed.  (Thanks, Corrie Herriman, for the inspiration for this tag!)

I will submit this tag to the following challenges:

Take It, Make It (Stamping)
Stampotique Designers' Challenge (Color Splash)

REACH!

For the last several years, like many others, I have chosen a word to serve as a constant motivation throughout the new year.  In 2015, my word will be REACH!  I first heard the song "Reach" by Patti Austin about 20 years ago, but was reminded of it recently.  I love the lyrics because they address reaching up and out in all areas of one's life, and I like that.  I created a journal page today to serve as a physical reminder of my word for this year.

The background was created using heavy white card stock, coating it with Gesso, then pressing another piece of card stock against it to create a pattern in the Gesso.  Once it was dry, I sprayed several colors of ink (one at a time), then water to let the inks take the paths created in the Gesso.  The stamps are both from Stampotique Originals:

I am entering this journal page in these challenges:

JOURNALING JUST FOR FUN!

I have often created scrapbook layouts "just for fun," but never an art journaling page.  Today, I decided to change that. My husband and I are planning a trip to Colorado Springs this year to attend the wedding of Russ's son Bill and his beautiful bride-to-be Denise.  It's on my calendar and on my mind, so, today, I made it in my art journal.  It's just for fun--no deadline, no challenge, no reason, just for fun!

Everything I used is from my stash, well, except for that brand new Stampotique Originals' stamp dead center.  It's called "A Car Full" and is by stamp designer Josie Cirincione.  Popping it up on pop dots made it seem more mobile!

Thanks for stopping by!  I appreciate both your visits and your comments!

Cheers!

TAKE IT, MAKE IT JANUARY CHALLENGE

Welcome to my art journaling blog and to my first entry into the Take It, Make It Challenge brought to us by Craft Stamper Magazine!  My New Year's resolution is to allow myself more time for crafty endeavors!  One of the first things on my list is to enter the Take It, Make It challenges that are posted monthly by the Craft Stamper Magazine.  The January challenge is all about rubber stamping!  That's it!  Stamping.  I can do that!

A Christmas gift to myself was an order from Stampotique Originals, and it arrived just in time.  One of my new stamps is "Moth Fab" by Jill Penney and Daniel Torrente.  I was eager to use her and thought this was the perfect opportunity.  I "grounded" her with another of the Stampotique stamps called "Tenticurl" by Jo Capper-Sandon.

The inspiration for my tag today is a quote by Maya Angelou (1928-2014).  Before you scold me about the language on my tag, read a bit about this American author, poet, dancer, actress and singer!  Wikipedia shares that Angelou "recited her poem On the Pulse of Morning at President Bill Clinton's inauguration, making her the first poet to make an inaugural recitation since Robert Frost at President John F. Kennedy's inauguration."  So, when Maya speaks, I listen!

I created my background on a black tag by using strips of washi tape from my stash.  The quote was computer generated using my printer.

I will also submit this tag to the Tag Along Blog Challenge this week!

Thanks for visiting my blog today and for taking a moment to leave a comment.  Both are appreciated!

Cheers!

QUOTE THE RAVEN, NEVERMORE!

I am thrilled to announce that I have been invited to join the creative design team of the "Quote the Raven, Nevermore" website as of today!

"Quoth the Raven, Nevermore" is a website about Edgar Allan Poe, both personally and professionally--his failures and his successes, his stories and his poetry, his humor and his melancholy, and how we, as artists, might interpret those very parts of his being.

My introductory artwork for the current theme (white-on-white, with one additional color) uses an excerpt from Poe's poem Annabel Lee. The two stamps I have used (Skull Moon and Goth Candelabra) were created by stamp designer Arwen McCullen from Germany.  Her stamps are sold through the Stampotique Originals website, and they ship worldwide.

I would be very pleased to have you visit my new blog, called "JUST A POE GIRL AND HER ART." Thanks, too, if you join as a follower on my new blog!

Mwah!

TAG ALONG BLOG CHALLENGE #70: ANYTHING GOES

Just a short post today to share a tag for the Anything Goes challenge at the Tag Along Blog.  This is a tag that I made to send to a friend for her birthday.  It uses Graphic45 papers from the A Ladies' Diary Collection--one of my favorites!  I also used text and background stencils with Wendy Vecchi's metallic gold embossing paste.

I hope you will take some time to get crafty now that the holidays are over and we are getting back to normal activities. All are welcome to make a tag because--anything goes!

Here's mine:

Thanks for visiting today and for taking a moment to leave a comment.  Both serve as inspiration to me!
