Having no Egyptian-themed stamps, the first thing I did was go shopping! I came up empty at my local scrap store, at Michael's, at Jo-Ann's, even at Hobby Lobby. I did manage to pick up a few things at each store, however, so the trips were not wasted! Ha! I was finally successful when I went to my stack of magazines and found the image I have used on the cover (and inside) of the National Geographic from October of 2002!
I used a Ranger #10 tag and adhered my image to it. I also punched out circles from other patterned bits from the same article, then mounted them on scalloped black cardstock. I cut these in half, then adhered them to the left side and bottom edge of my tag to create a border. I was definitely still at a loss as to what to use for a sentiment or quote. Everything I found was just way to serious--until I found one by Mark Twain. Take a look:
Thanks, Anne, for what ended up being a super fun challenge this week!
I hope you will find some time this week to join us at the Tag Along Challenge Blog. Thanks for your visit and for your comments. Both are important to me!
Kay, the layout on this tag is wonderful and the quote is perfect! I love how you incorporated some of the article text too.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant quote! Fabulous Tag Kay, love the colours and textures very much, glad you had fun in the end.
ReplyDeleteI visited Egypt in the 90's stayed in Luxor, travelled to the Red Sea before there were any resorts and had many adventures. Most exciting was visiting the Tombs of Tutankhamun and Hatshepsut, oooh and you have me remembering the 2nd most beautiful sunsets i have ever seen over The Nile. Think i should stop now...
Big hugs, thanks for bringing back such fab memories:-) xxx
